Episode 123: Clocked By My Own Niece

so, today... I got a glimpse of parenthood and the rollercoaster feelings of watching your child grow up. I have a particular niece that I've watched very closely to grow up. I was her permanent babysitter during her infant summers. This year she'll be turning 7 years old, damn. Anyway, I was at the mall with my family. We see her dad at one of the shoe stores & he tells us that she's in Kid City trying on dresses for her friend's 7th bday cotillion (cute, right?) Well, my sister & i rush to the store to see her wear the dress... what we experienced was nothing we expected. haha

It was adorable to see her & her little friends playing in front of the mirrors with their carefree laughter. We call out her name and she turns to look at us. What does she say??

"AHHHH what are YOU doing here??" (with definite attitude, i might add)

ouch. haha, but we told her we just wanted to see her in her dress. She runs to give us each hugs then runs back to her friends. One of the little girls whispers and asks who we were. All she said was "my ates" (with attitude again!) =O !! hahaha oh man, we were heart broken. When we finally saw her try on her dress, we left without saying anything because we were depressed. Our baby girl is all grown up. We've come to realize, we're not cool in front of her friends. haha man. I love her.

the good ol' days...
